About
Hi – I’m Kim….I am a kindergarten teacher and RYT (registered yoga teacher). I started my yoga journey about 7 years ago. I felt the need to have a relaxation practice, but also to become more flexible. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to go to a yoga studio so I started my yoga practice at home watching Yoga with Adriene on Youtube.
She was and is a great person to watch and learn from. Her energy is wonderful and she is totally open to what you need in your yoga practice. Her mantra is “find what feels good.” Once I felt more comfortable and learned many yoga poses, I looked into local yoga studios. The studio that was closest to my house needed social media assistance and in exchange for that work, classes would be free. I got the job and was able to attend yoga classes for free.
I met some wonderful yoga teachers at that studio and helped with the social media for several months. The owner of the studio decided that she wanted to go in a different direction so she let me and my favorite yoga teacher go. At about the same time, one of my other favorite yoga teachers was leaving the studio so I didn’t feel bad that I was let go because I didn’t like the person who was taking her place and it was one of the classes I attended on a regular basis.
I went back to Yoga with Adriene at home and enjoyed that practice. I felt a huge connection to Adriene and even got to meet her at a Wanderlust yoga fest in Boston. She was as sweet in person as she was in her videos. I moved away from yoga for a while because I needed, what I thought was, a more rigorous workout.
Fast forward several years to my return to yoga. I found a local yoga studio that needed a greeter for their classes. Someone who opened the studio, signed people in and cleaned up after classes. I applied, interviewed and got the position. There were 2 owners: one who I connected with and one whose energy I did not like. The one who I connected with had a baby soon after I started so I had to deal with the non-preferred owner. This position paid a small amount for the opening, signing in and cleaning. During class, I wasn’t paid so I could attend the class or not. I attended most classes during my scheduled time.
Covid hit and the studio went online. After a few months, the studio closed and I lost contact with the owner. I am still friendly with some of the teachers who I connected with at that studio. These are the people who kept me working at the studio because I loved their energy.
Last summer (2022), I went to the Maine Yogafest and connected with another teacher who did yoga nidra. I came to the realization that I wanted to do my YTT and focus on restorative and yoga nidra. So here I am, finished with all these certifications and looking to expand my yoga journey. I want to offer classes that ground people and give them a place where they feel safe, relaxed and grounded.

Hello,
My name is Julia and I blog about kitchen and cooking tips. Mostly about cooking while using modern kitchen gadgets, I think they are really helpful these days.
I recently found your blog, through a facebook group, and I loved it! I was wondering if you would be open to guest post submissions? 🙂 I don’t know if you’re familiar with this – I write an original article that will fit your blog, and in exchange I will be able to include a link to my blog inside the article, or in the bio.
What do you think? Let me know if that sounds ok with you and I will be more than happy to share some samples with you and discuss more on the topic!
Thank you,
Julia
