I’ve been feeling a sense of anxiety and imbalance lately. Not sure why, but it’s definitely there…under the surface. The weather hasn’t been great…the sun has not been showing itself. I wasn’t quite sure what was going on.
The weather report said that it was going to be unseasonably cool, but sunny today. The weather on the phone, confirmed this. I have wanted to go to the beach since finishing the school year last week, but every day has either been cloudy, rainy or cool.
I debated back and forth about going to the beach. I debated whether to wait a little while until the temperature got warmer and maybe less cloudy. I then just grabbed my beach bag, got in the car and drove to the beach. I am so glad that I did.
The minute my feet hit the sand, I felt so much better. My body had been craving the grounding that the beach always provides to me. I could just feel the anxiety leave my body as I walk on the beach and it the water. It was definitely a cool day for the beach, but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sunshine felt wonderful on my skin. Nothing like a good dose of vitamin D.
Grounding is having a direct skin contact with the Earth in order to reconnect with its’ healing energy. “Being barefoot can help your body absorb Earth’s electrons and in theory offers health benefits” (USAToday, 2022). There is an abundance of salt at the beach and I feel that my body was missing this crucial element and is so much happier when it is in contact with salt.
It’s supposed to be cloudy and rainy for the next 7+ days, but I have decided that I am going to the beach no matter the weather because it made me feel so much better! It is good for the soul and the sole(s of your feet).
What is your favorite place to ground yourself?
Such a good reminder that we need to be in tune with nature and how good it is for us!
I have been reading a few blogs about grounding; it is becoming increasingly popular. I guess this is nothing new to people who grew up in the Caribbean. We have been going barefoot most of our lives; especially during childhood. We often walk barefoot in the yard. But in retrospect, I think walking barefoot has some health benefits.
That may be why people from the Caribbean are so laid back and happy:)
This definitely speaks to me. As a Taurus, being one with nature is so important to me…and being born & raised in the South means being barefoot is the norm lol I feel so connected when I walk on the grass or the beach. Great post!
I am also a Taurus so I feel what you are saying!
I always love going to the beach. Walking barefoot is always calming to me.
Agreed!
The sand is so healing as well as the water. I miss the beach.
I agree.
I really miss going to beach, feeling the sand and water was absolutely amazing as always
Totally agree!
I’m always stunned by the beauty of beach, I really miss going on a beach trip with the whole family
Put it on your to-do list…it’s worth it.
I also really enjoy how going barefoot at the beach exfoliates my feet better than any pumice stone can, and that salt water leaves them feeling so soft!
When I’m go to the beach, I find it so relaxing. Just sitting there under the umbrella sipping on a cold drink, reading my favorite book. When my feet hit the sand, how relaxing i become. thanks for sharing
Sounds wonderful!
I love being barefoot and ever since I found out it was good for me I wont ever stop!
Yesss!!!!
A day on the beach can change everything! The connection with the nature, the sound of the sea – I don’t want nothing else!
Headed to the beach tomorrow and I can’t wait. I hope the weather holds up.
The weather by me has been awful:( I hope you have a beautiful beach day!
Going to the beach is always one of my favorite things to do. I love this place so much
that was one of my tiny habits for this year; and while the weather did not permit me to do so earlier, i am working on it now as the weather has become warmer..
I like going to the beach too to get grounded
I am finally on summer break and feeling like I want to get outdoors and connect with nature and feel more grounded, I guess not just figuratively but literally possible too! In a world of modern things and electronics, it is nice to think about connecting like this.
Absolutely!
I love walking around barefoot even outside. I want to go to the beach now. Maybe I can make it out there this summer.
