I recently moved my blog to a new host and I also changed the name of it. I have to fix a bunch of the older posts, and I’m taking it one step at a time. It has been a truly renewing experience because I am reading over all the older posts and it reminds of so many things that brought me joy and that I have wandered away from. I think it’s a great idea for any blogger to go over their older posts and go through this process. It’s eye opening.
Salt…of the Earth
I was listening to a podcast recently and they were talking about the word they chose as their focus for the year. It was a mid-year check in. One of the hosts said that her word was salt and then she and the other host got into a discussion of what exactly “salt” encompassed. They brought up salt of the earth, salt on margaritas and how salt brings out the flavor in foods. It is an essential element and is needed in order to survive. I just loved all the iterations of the word salt so I knew I wanted to include it in my new blog name.
I wanted to call the blog Salt of the Earth, but that domain was taken:( I then tried some other similar names but I didn’t love them. I put “salt titles” in a search engine and sand salt love came up. I really liked that so I was originally going to use that as a title. Since I am starting my yoga teacher journey, I wanted to include yoga in the title so I can use it when I eventually get my certification. Sand Love Salt Yoga was born.
Love
I have the word love in my blog title because I write about all the things that I love. It can encompass everything I write about in some way so I felt it was a great word to include. In yoga, the chakras are utilized quite often and there is the heart chakra plus when your hands are in prayer position, they are above the heart. I feel that all of these things incorporate love.
Sand
I love the beach and the ocean. I feel very grounded whenever I’m near the ocean or on the beach. It calms me and has a very positive effect on my psyche. I love the sound of the waves and the views of the horizon. You cannot beat a sunrise or sunset at the beach. Pure beauty!
Yoga
As I have said in many of my previous posts, yoga is such a wonderful part of my life. The list of benefits goes on and on. I would be remiss if I didn’t include this word in my blog name. So excited for the future of Sand Love Salt Yoga.
Does your blog or company name carry a special meaning?
Love this!
Thank you
It’s great to reflect on where we started and how far along we’ve come! Good luck with your rebranding and I hope you enjoy the process x
Thank you Miriam
I am always interested in why bloggers choose their blog names. I wanted to use Food Explorer but the domain was already taken. I used explore because in our Jamaican dialect we most often replace words ending in ER with A. Thanks for sharing the meaning behind your domain name.
Love your blog name story too!
That’s a huge step in changing your blog name. So courageous of you. I wish you all the best.
Thank you Dominique
Finding the right blog name can be hard, especially as so many names have now been taken. Glad to hear you found one in the end.
I believe a blog name should reflect the theme of our blog or ourselves. I love your blog name, it’s really nice! Good luck ❤️
Thank you so much!
This is wonderful, a lot of informative information
I love the name you selected. My blog name was on a whim but it so works for me.
Thank you Tara
It should represent generally the whole of whats inside.. and being catchy would be a bonus. But as long as you are satisfied with it, whats there to think about? Hehe
I love how you came up with your blog name. Mine was born one night laying in bed. I love ice Cream and one night I thought about those times I ate an ice cream cone when I was little. I would end up with sticky fingers. So that’s how my blog name came to be.
I LOVE that! Such a great memory and homage to childhood.
Such a cool name for a blog especially how you conceptualize it. Loved how you detailed it to us!
Thank you Gervin
