I have been on a true self-care, getting to know myself journey the past few months. I have discovered great coaches including Gabi Bernstein, Allie Van Fossen and Rebekah Borucki. One thing that they all live by and advocate about is positive daily affirmations…and why not? A few positive words every day are food for the soul. As I stated in my post title, I TRY to live by these. One of the things I LOVE about Rebekah/Bex is she is the first one to say that her life is not perfect and some days are suck-ish. I LOVE that.
1 – i am like a boat in the ocean
This is one of my all time favorite Rebekah Borucki (Bex) meditations/affirmations. I LOVE the beach and the ocean so this is perfect for me. I can visualize the boat and I when I feel overwhelmed, I can use this to calm myself.
2 – Energy flows where attention goes
This is a Gabi Bernstein-ism that I also love. She may not have invented it, but these are words she definitely lives by. So if I am thinking positive, uplifting, joyous thoughts…that is what I will manifest and that is what will show up in my life. My work BFF and I tell us this all the time during the school year, especially when we get into a negative mindset.
3 – her success is not your failure
This is probably one of my all time favorite affirmations and I often forget to use it. I see this affirmation connected to the one about comparison being the killer of joy. If you often feel bad when others have success because you often feel that you are not enough or you don’t do a good job, stop. Just because someone else is having success or is happy or has joy in their life DOESN’T mean that you can’t have it too. You can be just as successful, happy and joyous if not more so!!!
4 – i am calm, i am at peace
Another great Bexlife meditation…told you I LOVE her. This is perfect for ANY time you are feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, scared, unhappy, etc. Close your eyes and say this to yourself or speak it out loud. It is guaranteed to ground you and make you feel much better.
5 – whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy
This should be the last sentence of every valedictorian speech in every high school and at every college commencement speech. You MUST be happy or get some type of happiness in whatever you do. If not, you will waste time that could have been joyous and fruitful. I know that you have to pay the bills, but be sure to have SOMETHING in your life that you are passionate about and that brings you JOY:)
I absolutely love all of these affirmations! Especially that last one! Do what makes you happy!
Absolutely!!! Thanks Robin.
It is so important to be sure that you are happy in whatever you do. It is difficult to know at the time, though, when decisions are being made.
Happiness is key.
Love these! I love the ocean as well. I’m hoping to move to Florida within 2 years. I’m so much more at peace by the water. I really love the her success is not your failure one. It is SO hard to not see it that way some days.
The beach is my happy place:)
This is a great reminder of taking stock in ourselves! I think every once in a while just need time to ourselves to get to know us again.
Absolutely Jeanette.
These are great affirmations. It is so important to be positive. I truly believe that what we believe in happens to us.
Me too Sarah
” Just because someone else is having success or is happy or has joy in their life DOESN’T mean that you can’t have it too. You can be just as successful, happy and joyous if not more so!!!”
The past year or two, I’ve been forced to accept and embrace this.
So, so, true
Yes, embrace it!!
Her success is not your failure is one that I try really hard to live by! It can be so hard in a world of social media, but I think it is so important to remember!
Ugh…social media is the best AND worst thing ever
All of these are really great affirmations! I’ve been wanting to sit down and actually write a few affirmations for myself but haven’t done it yet.
Please use any of these Cole…they are game changers:)
I totally live by “her success is not your failure.” Just because someone else is doing well doesn’t mean you aren’t as well!
Absolutely Alissa
I love these affirmations, they really are great for everyday life and something we should all try and live by.
Yes…use them everyday.
These are some great affirmations. I need to keep them in mind when I am feeling down.
Yes Amber:)
I love these. Especially “her success is not your failure.” Too often people are competitive when they could be collaborative.
Thank you Pam
I’ve never heard: ‘her success is not your failure’. That’s such a great affirmation to remember especially when getting caught up in the trap of comparison especially when it comes to blogging. I’m definitely going to remember that for the future! Thanks for sharing!

I totally agree with Number 5. I think it is so important to do what makes you happy. Obviously, sometimes we have to suck it up and do thing we don’t want but for the most part we need to weed out the things that don’t bring us joy.
That is exactly it…do what brings you joy
Now I’m wondering if my valedictorian said it! I hope so! I’m in love with affirmations.
Who truly remembers those speeches?? lol…maybe if that affirmation was given, we’d all remember:)
I love these! They really get you thinking in a good way. Challenge and uplift oneself. I really like “energy flows where attention goes”!
Keep your attention on the positive:)
Positivity is such a good quality, and so much better than negativity for all involved. I wish more people would just try it!
Unfortunately, I think human nature is going to the negative. We have to rewire our brain to the positive.
I love this. I don’t know how to balance that. It frustrates me because I’m all in or nothing kind of girl. I’m hoping I can find that happiness.
Go all in to joy:)
Love these! My favorite affirmation currently I combine with some meditation. “Peace begins with me”. I touch my thumb to my fore finger, middle, ring, then pinkie as I say the words.
I LOVE that…thanks for the tip:)
Even a simple positive thinking can go a long way. I love reading your affirmations.
Thanks Maurene
I loved this! I’m a recently diagnosed cancer patient so affirmations have been such a helpful thing. Thanks for sharing this post.
Positive thoughts for your full recovery!!
I love all these affirmations. Number 5 is my favorite. Things that you love to do makes you happy.
We have to have things in our life that bring us joy
All of these are the great statements J I will read them daily. They are really inspirational.
Will always keep them in mind, whenever I’ll feel low.
Thank you Neha
“Her success is not your failure” – I love that!!
Me too:)
Energy flows where attention goes. At one point I was focusing on all the wrong things and it was draining. I have since been using positive affirmations to help with this.
It really does…focus on positives and you will feel energetic
Always good to focus on the positive and remind ourselves of good things throughout the day. I especially need to remind myself of #2 frequently.
Positivity gives us energy
I am a big believer in positive affirmations. I think they can really help boost one’s mood. It’s so important to keep a good perspective throughout one’s day and recall these positive thoughts often.
Absolutely
I especially love #3! Comparison is such a thief of joy!
So true!!
