To piggy back on my last post of visiting the beach, I wanted to write a post on the most important things in my beach bag. First of all, I have the best beach bag ever!!! I got it from Viv and Lou and I love it. They always have sales, although the regular price on it is reasonable to begin with. I LOVE anchors so this was the one for me and it is so roomy that you could also use it for a weekend away.
Sunscreen – this should definitely be the first item put into everyone’s beach bag. I use the Walmart Equate brand and I have no complaints. I love the continuous spray and the 2 pack is very inexpensive. I love the scent of it and it does a great job of blocking those bad rays.
Floppy Hat – I love my floppy hat and you see them all over the beach. You don’t have to feel silly about wearing them because EVERYONE wears them. I actually got my Panama Jack hat at TJ Maxx, but they are reasonably priced on the Panama Jack website. They are all very cute, too:) May need to get another one.
Lip Balm with SPF – My lips are very sensitive to the sun. If I don’t wear lip balm with SPF, I get sun poisoning on my lips and it is soooooooo painful. I never go out in the sun without lip balm with SPF. I love the Hawaiian Tropic brand because it has SPF 45, one of the highest SPFs I have seen in a lip balm. I also love the scent/taste.
Aloe Vera Gel – Inevitably many of us forget to re-apply sunscreen or miss spots with the sunscreen. That is where aloe vera gel comes in. My absolute favorite aloe vera gel is Trader Joe’s brand. It smells incredible..it isn’t super sticky and it calms your hot skin like nothing else. I won’t use any other brand now that I have found this.

What are the must haves in your beach bag?
Your bag is really cute! I always bring sunglasses and books/magazines too!
OMG…of course sunglasses!!! Mine are prescription so they are never in my bag; they are always on my face:)
I’m pretty fair skinned so a strong sunshine is a must for me. Thanks for sharing your tips!
SPF yes!!!!
Great list! Aloe Vera gel is always a must have!
TJs has the best aloe vera gel ever!!!!
I never thought of Aloe Vera as a quick solution for sunburn.
I’ve written a similar article here (http://janded.eu/summer-care-must-hate-items/) and I also included water. I love using thermal water to hydrate and refresh my skin during summer.
Aloe is the bomb!!!
Super cute bag!! Sunscreen is a must. My fiancé forgot to wear it and now he’s peeling like crazy!
LOVE my Viv and Lou beachbag…thanks Chelsea
Love your beach bag!
Thank you…it so roomy
In mine you can also find sunglasses, book/magazines and something for my dogs 🙂
Happy Summer x
All great items too…I wear prescription sunglasses so they are always on my face…lol
I have a tendency to buy anything with anchors – I feel like I need your beach bag! You have made me dream of lazy beach days 🙂 Can’t wait for summer to come back around!
I am an anchor-aholic…LOVE anchors
Great list! Reminded me to buy sunscreen.
SPF rules!!!
Beautiful 🙂 seriously the best thing 😉
Thanks Angela:)
Just the post I needed! Great tips, also that bag is so gorgeous! – Love, Anna
Thanks Anna…I LOVE Viv and Lou products too:)
I just started wearing a hat at the beach in the last year, but what a difference it makes! My eyes and face feel so much better at the end of a long beach day.
I’ve only been wearing a floppy hat for several years myself and it really does make a difference when the direct sun is beating down.
I definitely need a floppy hat for my upcoming resort staycation, because a hat is just the best thing to protect you from the sun! xx Adaleta Avdic
Have a great staycation!!!
Oh I always pack an extra towel or blanket to use as a makeshift pillow when I’m reading. Great post!
Yes…a towel is also a must!!
I can’t go to the beach without a UV protective umbrella!
I have an umbrella that I can attach to the arm of my chair if I need a little shade time:)
Love this! Perfect beach bag essentials.
Thanks Taylor
I always take an evian face spray. I love that and I have my own favorties as far as sunscreens go. I always have a book and my ipad too!
I love facial mist…it is so refreshing on a hot day at or away from the beach:)
Perfect beach bag essentials! Adding a bottle of water and a book would make it complete.

I fill a water bottle half full of water and freeze it. I then add water after it is frozen and it stays cold all day:)
What great essentials! I haven’t worn a floppy hat in past years, but it’s #1 on my list this season. It protects you, and it’s fashionable! Win win.
They are the “in” thing at the beach these days.
That is such an adorable bag! I also agree that if you are going to be out in the sun you definitely need to keep some aloe vera gel as one of your essentials.
Thank you Becca…I have one more item to add for after the beach…facial mist…sooooo refreshing.
