I’ve been away from my blog for awhile and I have missed it. Part of the issue was that I didn’t feel like I had anything to write about. I wasn’t inspired and I was just really drained. May and June are hard when you are a teacher because your energy is low and you can see that finish line. As the weather gets nicer, the students don’t want to be at school; they want to be home or outside playing. They don’t want to be there; you don’t want to be there. Summer cannot come soon enough.
Along with the fatigue from a long school year, I also feel a lack of discipline with eating. The ice cream comes out and the stress of the end of the year makes me want to eat junk. Along with the end of the school year came time to pack (90) boxes because we were moving into a newly built school. There was a lot of excitement that we were finally moving into our brand new school, but packing, report cards, class lists and various school drama was in the way of getting to the summer finish line.
Once school was over, it was like a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders. However, it usually takes 1-2 weeks to decompress from the school year; I truly felt unmotivated to do anything. No eating binge or sleep marathon. I did, however, watch a lot of television and just plain did nothing. I was getting very little accomplished, but made myself do several small chores each day. The fog has lifted and I am back at making life more balanced.
This is wear the MindBody app comes into play. I wrote a former blog post about this app. I am a MindBody ambassador, but only because I LOVE THIS APP. My friend opened a fitness studio (Fitness Balanced) and it was connected to the MindBody app. It makes it super simple to sign up for classes. Another feature of the app is that there are specials offered by gyms and studios in your area that run along the bottom of the home screen. I had done barre for over a year, but the studio I went to just got too expensive. I decided to check the MindBody app to see if I could find another local barre studio and I found one.
Ahhh Sweet Balance is a yoga and barre studio and it was a great experience. The instructor/co-owner was very friendly and welcoming. The class was low pressure and I felt comfortable going at my own pace. I didn’t realize how much I missed barre until I took this class. I feel that I have found my new barre studio. Such a good feeling to get a good workout because it makes you feel like you can take on the world. It is ironic and very telling that both of the studios that I like have the word “balance” in their names. It is so true…life must have balance. Too much or too little of any area in life leads to imbalance which is unhealthy. I am feeling much healthier already.
What brings balance to your life?
I love yoga and barre! It always helps bring more balance to your life.
Barre is awesome:)
I’ve always found yoga to be very peaceful!! I need to make more time to find a balance
Enjoy! Mind and body activity that makes you feel good and enjoy the summer. 🙂
You too 🙂
Ah yes, the eternal life/work balance struggle, I can completely relate! 🙂
My favorite yoga studio uses this app for class sign up; I find it to be super convenient to get registered, especially if I decide to head out at the last minute.
I LOVE the app…great place to register for and find new classes
I can balance work vs. play pretty well – Well enough that I really don’t stress out all that often. If you stress a lot – it’s because you don’t know how to balance life!
I’ve never tried Barre, but I would love to! I’ve tried every other fitness class out already except for Crossfit. Thanks for sharing! http://bit.ly/WhyTempSigns Please check out my latest blog posts! 🙂
Barre is very different from Crossfit, but it is a good workout because it combines barre work, pilates and yoga. Give it a try:)
With blogging, I think it’s common to have good and bad months. It’s so hard to be “on” all the time, and sometimes a little break does the mind and body good.

Yoga is the best and it calms me right down when I need it. I should go today!! I like hot yoga the best. Glad to hear you are back on track with blogging! 🙂
The new Barre studio that I found also has yoga so I’m going to try it. Thanks Heather
I’m so glad you were able to find a place that could give you the balance you’re looking for. You have a difficult job and it requires a lot out of you so to see you get the break you need in a welcoming environment is so awesome!
Thanks for your kind words Danielle
I haven’t heard of of this app! It sounds fantastic! I will one day try Barre!!
Give it a try…it is so awesome
I have never done a barre class, but they JUST opened a barre and yoga studio next to my apartment and I really want to try it. I could use some balance myself…
Give it a try…a lot of places offer the first class or first week free:)
I am so glad that you are getting a more balanced life now! We all get carried away and need sometime off to get that balance going!
Thank you for your kind words
