Coloring Books for Adults

Love

The theme of my blog is Fitness, Nutrition and a Happier You.  I want to make sure that all my posts fall into one of these niches in 2016.  I really want to keep my blog more focused so the post for today is in the nice A Happier You.   What is it that will make a happier you?  Coloring books for adults….yes I know that they are all the rage now, but they really are great.  I purchased this coloring book from Amazon:

I have always loved the artist Mary Engelbreit.  She was actually my cousin’s roommate in college and she is also my 2nd cousin’s godmother.  Her work is very recognizable and it is whimsical and sweet.   (This is an affiliate link, but I am only posting it because I love the coloring book.  I am not getting anything from the company that makes the book.  I only post products that I have tried and love.)

As I sat coloring, I was really focusing on what I was coloring and what colors I wanted to use.  I wasn’t thinking of some sad news I had received at work the day before.  I wasn’t thinking about the paper I had to do for a class or the chores that should be done.  Just lost in the world of coloring…so relaxing and fun.  An added perk of coloring is that you can’t mindlessly snack on junk food or any food for that matter because your hands are kept busy:)

If you have ever loved coloring any time in your life, you will enjoy coloring books for adults.  I have seen them everywhere.  They are online, in book stores, in craft stores and I have seen them in TJMaxx for cheap!!  I use colored pencils because you can get into small spaces with the sharp points.  You can even get the Twistable colored pencils so that you don’t have to constantly sharpen the pencils.

This isn’t earth shattering news or on the cutting edge of technology, but I thought I’d share something that I find relaxing and fun and wanted to share it with others.  I hope you give it a try and let me know what you think of this fun, accessible, activity.

Have you tried coloring books for adults?  If yes, which is your favorite?

I loved drawing and coloring when I was little, who knew I still do. Before the adult coloring books came out, I had a few my little pony coloring books I’d pull out. Ha, I’m embarrassed to day that but to each is there own. I love my adult coloring book.

I love adult coloring books! A night in coloring, listening to some podcasts, and enjoying hot chocolate is a great night for me! Wild time, haha.

I’ve been reading a lot about adult coloring books lately and I haven’t actually done it myself in years but I’d really like to give it a try because it’s such a soothing activity. I’m so glad you enjoy it and I’ll definitely be going to get myself one soon!

I love adult coloring books! I got my first one this Fall and it’s sort of an enchanted forest type deal. It’s mostly just woodland creatures and stuff, with just a little bit of a magical touch. I like it a lot.

I love colouring, I find it so relaxing and it allows me to focus on just one thing, calming down a very busy brain. Your picture looks fab 🙂

I have seen this popping up all over the place! Maybe it’s time I go out looking for a coloring book myself 🙂 I have a friend who is a professional counselor and she swears that coloring is super therapeutic for adults too!

I haven’t tried adult coloring books. But I loved coloring as a child. I can see how therapeutic it can be for us as adults. A great way to de-stress and relax. I have a girlfriend that colors and it’s been very helpful.

I love colouring books and have a few of them at home! My favourite is Johanna Basford’s ‘Secret Garden: an inky treasure hunt and colouring book’. It’s been a huge seller in the UK. It’s got lots of intricate nature-based patterns and pics.

Colouring in is a great mindfulness activity as it allows you to focus on the moment and it’s very relaxing. I can see why counsellors recommend it. I sometimes set my boys up with a crafting activity then get out my colouring book and have a little scribble 🙂
