Blogging Challenge – Favorite Superheroine

Posted on November 7, 2015August 18, 2022 By Kim 20 Comments on Blogging Challenge – Favorite Superheroine
Love

I didn’t want to choose one of the well-known super heroines like Wonder Woman, Batgirl or Supergirl.  Doesn’t every woman want to be Wonder Woman???   I googled super heroines and came up with more than I even knew existed.  A lot of them had very sinister personalities or had been through some terrible accident so I really didn’t feel connected to them.  I did find one that I could, somewhat,  relate to….She-Hulk.

I didn’t even know she “existed”…never heard of her.  When I read her backstory, however, I saw some similarities.  Jennifer Walters, i.e. She-hulk was the cousin of Bruce Banner, i.e. the Incredible Hulk.  Jennifer needed a blood transfusion so since her blood type matched Bruce’s, he donated blood to her.  She was then also infused with his powers.  Jennifer was described as a very shy, introverted girl, but when she turned into She-hulk, she was confident and assertive.   Subconsciously, Jennifer desired to look like the ideal woman.  Of course, just like the Incredible Hulk, her transformation was triggered when she got mad.

I feel that I connect more with Jennifer than She-hulk.  I am shy and introverted.  I subconsciously desire to look like the ideal woman.  I am a different person when I am triggered by anger (I don’t rage like She-hulk, but I when something makes me mad, it takes me awhile to process it and then let it go.)    I would love to be more confident and assertive.  (I’d also love to have abs like She-hulk above, but I do have spin shoes that look just like her shoes…lol).   I’ve never, however, had a blood transfusion or green skin.  I think that working on the goals I set for this month and the positive mindset that I have been working on since summer, I can transform into the positive aspects of She-hulk…and great biceps wouldn’t hurt either.

What a fun post! I never knew she-hulk even existed haha. I would choose to be Wonderwoman or Catwoman.

I love that you chose She-Hulk, she is such a great heroine that is not spotlighted enough. Looking forward to your She-Hulk transformation….and I agree who wouldn’t want those abs and biceps 🙂

I admit, I want to be Wonder Woman, so finding out there was a She-Hulk completely intrigued me. Who knew? I may need to go back into the DC Universe and find another heroine who is a bit more mysterious and unknown like She-Hulk.

I’m going with Barb Wire. Bit of a loner and a thrill-junkie. Skilled in many areas (but master of none), but it’s my husband that has to fix things that I break. And how cool would it to be a bounty hunter / bar owner?? I’m going to channel my inner Barb Wire when I workout today!
“In Steel Harbor, a bombed-out wreck of a town, thrill-junkie Barbara Kopetski – better known as “Barb Wire” – is a bar owner and part-time bounty hunter (in order to pay for her bar, The Hammerhead). She is skilled in many areas, but excels in combat-related abilities. While she has a brother and several allies, she is essentially a loner, although this is something which is uncomfortable for her to think about.”

Interesting, I didn’t even know about she-hulk! I think we need more good female superheroes. We did a superhero display at our library this summer and wanted to feature females as well but the choices were limited – and finding non-sexualized photos of them was also a challenge!

So fun! I had no idea she existed either. It’s fun when you can find a character in literature or movies to connect to and compare yourself to!
